obloquy

How it was used: lIbel is a false and unprivileged publications by writing, printing, picture, effigy,or other fixed representations to the eye, which exposes any person to hatred, contempt, ridicule, or obloquy, or which causes him to be shunned or avoided, or which has a tendency to injure him in his occupation.

Definition: 1.
censure, blame, or abusive language aimed at a person or thing, esp. by numerous persons or by the general public.
2.discredit, disgrace, or bad repute resulting from public blame, abuse, or denunciation.

Sentence: He suffered through obloquy after the incident.
